This week's news will be all about food.
Look at this image, if you read what it says you may think 'Wow, we really made a lot of progress.' But I think there should be a new result table with these images:

I know not all supermarkets have plastic-free options, but all I am asking is to just try.
Good News
The good news for this week has to do with food. A recent survey shows that Millenials have a more unique diet than other generations. 44% follow a special diet because it is better for the environment. The survey was commissioned by a vegetarian food producer, sweet earth foods. The survey had 2000 participants. 46% of the changes in their diet were focused one eating healthy, 41% on avoiding sugar and carbs, and 36% focused on a plant-based diet. And about 34% of the participants cut down on their meat consumption. So this shows that many people are changing their eating habits for the environment.
Bad News
The bad news for this week does not directly link in with this week but it is still something we should discuss. Plastic Packaging. You've definitely seen it in supermarkets and probably thrown it in your basket multiple times. I am not blaming you, I do it too. But I hope after reading this we can all be more careful. Since the start of supermarkets, plastic has started gradually creeping into our supermarket shelves. And a lot of it is completely useless. Cucumbers, sliced fruit, bread, guacamole, everything seems to packaged in plastic. And many industry critics find this a bit much. I find this more than a bit much. Too many of these packagings end up in landfills or bobbing around the ocean.

I know not all supermarkets have plastic-free options, but all I am asking is to just try.
Company
This week's company is one you probably already know, Ben and Jerry's. Ben and Jerry's makes in my opinion very delicious ice cream. And they have started thinking more about the environment. They acknowledge their footprint and try to reduce it. They record and report their progress.
Charity
The charity for this week will be the fruit tree planting foundation. This is an international organization dedicated to bringing fruit trees to communities that need it. They do this to fight global warming and world hunger. It also tries to bring together communities. So it is a package deal.
I hope you learned something from this week's news.
