This weeks news will be based on the sun☀
Good News
So we all already knew that solar panels help us produce clean energy. But what we don't know is that they can help with other things too. We usually put our solar panels at the edge of the city and other places near cities that also have a lot of space, where we would traditionally grow our crops. So what would you rather have crops or clean energy? Don't worry, we don't actually have to choose. Because a recent study shows that plants grow better under solar panels! The shade from the solar panels causes cooler daytime temperatures and warmer nighttime temperatures. It also caused more moisture in the air for the plants.

Bad News
The bad news is that solar panels are not all pros. So this week I will be addressing the cons of solar panels. For a first, the installation is very expensive which leads to fewer people installing them. Also, the energy from the solar panels is not consistent since the night there is no sun and cloudy days are inevitable. The one is probably most important is the fact that the production of solar panels emits greenhouse gasses. Also used solar panels can not be recycled.
Company
If you live in the U.S. you have definitely heard of Target. And even though you may not expect it, Target is doing its part for the environment. Target has decided to try and reduce as many plastics as they can. They also use lots of solar power. If you have ever been there you may have noticed that they do have many sustainable products.

Charity
This week's charity will continue the solar theme of this week, it is a charity called solar aid. Which fights against poverty and global warming. It brings solar lights to regions where they are most needed. This is how it works; for every solar light that you purchase from their web shop, they bring solar light to a family without electricity. For more info check: https://solar-aid.org/
